As the Early Access phase of inZOI continues, fans have uncovered a troubling feature allowing players to run over children with vehicles. A player highlighted this issue in a post on inZOI’s subreddit on March 28, titled "I don't think that Krafton realizes that you can run over children in inZOI," showing footage of a child being struck by a car and sent flying a great distance before passing away.

While inZOI developers had previously mentioned during the inZOI Online Showcase that Zois could be killed in various ways, including being run over by a car, it was not intended to include children. Addressing the issue, a Krafton spokesperson told Eurogamer on March 28 that this was an unintended bug and has been resolved in the latest patch.

The statement emphasized, "These depictions are highly inappropriate and do not reflect the intent and values of inZOI. We understand the seriousness of this matter and the importance of age-appropriate content, and we are strengthening our internal review processes to prevent similar incidents in the future." Removing this bug is crucial, as inZOI carries an ESRB rating of T for Teen, and retaining such a feature could lead to a more restrictive age rating.

inZOI currently boasts a "Very Positive" review rating on Steam, with players praising its detailed and high-quality graphics. However, inZOI’s Game Director Hyungjun ‘Kjun’ Kim told PCGamesN on March 31 that the game's hyper-realistic approach poses challenges.

Kjun explained, "This was something we thought about a lot. With such realistic graphics, we constantly questioned how far we should take that realism. At times, we wanted to incorporate comical or lighthearted elements, but they didn’t quite fit with the grounded visuals, which was a bit disappointing sometimes."

Kjun has previously expressed admiration for The Sims 4, noting its charming goofiness as a defining feature. However, inZOI's realistic style makes it challenging to integrate similar whimsical elements. Despite this, Kjun believes that the game's immersive graphics offer significant advantages. He stated, "We believe this level of immersive graphics will resonate with players and, throughout development, we’ve felt both proud and excited to bring this world to life."

While inZOI surpasses The Sims 4 in terms of detail and quality, the developers continue to search for the game's unique identity to establish itself as a strong competitor in the life simulation genre. To learn more about our thoughts on inZOI’s Early Access release, check out our article below!
