REPO Update: "Duck Bucket" Tackles Duck Problem

by Sebastian Oct 23,2025

REPO

The developers of REPO have revealed their upcoming roadmap for the game, including a "duck bucket" feature designed to prevent the duck from eliminating players. Continue reading to discover more about these planned updates and hear what the creator of Lethal Company has to say about the game.

Details of REPO's First Major Update

Introducing the Duck Bucket to Counter the Duck

REPO

The initial update for REPO will introduce a new map along with a "duck bucket" that players can use to neutralize the duck. Semiwork Studios released a YouTube video on March 15th outlining the upcoming content for the game.

REPO is an online cooperative horror experience supporting up to six players, where teams must carefully extract and retrieve items while navigating a terrifying environment. As players explore, they might attract the attention of The Apex Predator—a small yellow duck that, when harmed or lifted, transforms into a monstrous creature. This entity hunts players for ten seconds before reverting to its harmless form.

To address this, the developers are introducing the "duck bucket," which allows players to trap the persistent duck and prevent it from tailing the group. This also provides a way to protect teammates from accidentally triggering the duck's monstrous state. The next update will also feature additional facial expressions and various quality-of-life enhancements.

A New "The Museum" Map and Public Lobbies

REPO

Semiwork Studios also confirmed a forthcoming map titled "The Museum," designed to challenge players' parkour abilities. Additionally, extraction zones will display a clear boundary to indicate whether collected items are within the required area for successful extraction.

The team is also developing public lobbies, having reviewed extensive player feedback. "With most players supporting matchmaking that allows both public and private hosting—alongside a kick function—we are exploring these options. For full transparency, implementing a kick button involves complex server-side programming, which is a new challenge for our team," the developers explained.

That said, the studio acknowledged the technical complexity involved, so players should expect this feature to arrive later than initially planned.

Lethal Company Creator's Feedback on REPO

Since its February launch, REPO has drawn comparisons to the popular co-op horror title Lethal Company due to overlapping mechanics and themes. On March 15, Lethal Company's creator, Zeekers, offered constructive feedback on the game, highlighting areas for improvement in future updates.

In a post, Zeekers shared, "REPO is entertaining. Initially, I wasn't sure because movement felt sluggish and the voice chat range seemed too limited. However, coordinating with the group to move a grand piano through a tight mansion without scratching it? That's a brilliantly amusing objective for a horror game." He expanded in the comments, adding, "I'll share more thoughts on Patreon, but my top suggestions are: 1. Increase the voice chat range and reduce the muffling effect. 2. Expansive open areas don't fit the game's design as well—it truly excels in tight, claustrophobic spaces like the mansion."

Responding to a comment about silent enemy approaches, Zeekers noted, "There should also be an in-game method for learning enemy behaviors, though I'm sure the developers have that in the pipeline."

R.E.P.O. is the newest viral co-op horror title available exclusively on PC. Currently, it ranks as the second top-selling game on Steam, just behind Counter-Strike 2. According to SteamDB, the game has surpassed 230,645 concurrent players, nearing Lethal Company's all-time peak of 240,817. For the latest news on R.E.P.O., check out our article below!
