"Witcher 4 Faces Delays Due to Unreal Engine Issues"

Daniel Vavra, the creator of the Kingdom Come trilogy and a co-founder of Warhorse Studios, has publicly criticized Unreal Engine, claiming it struggles with the demands of intricate, open-world environments. He attributes the production difficulties of The Witcher 4 to this engine's limitations.

"Unreal Engine might be suitable for environments like deserts and rocks, but it has struggled significantly with rendering trees for a long time," Vavra stated. He further criticized Unreal's Nanite technology, arguing that it fails to effectively render vegetation.

According to Vavra, who reportedly spoke with a CD Projekt employee, the studio has faced ongoing challenges in recreating scenes that were previously handled seamlessly by the RED Engine. These issues have reportedly led to significant production delays for the game.
