Conquering the Lifer in Wuthering Waves 2.0

Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord located in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to overcome this formidable foe.

Locating the Lifer

The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is situated southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.

The Lifer's Board Game

Inside, players encounter a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer (white) does. Placing a black piece on the outer circle opens maze walls and gates in that direction. Exiting preserves piece positions. While not mandatory for combat, the board game is crucial for buff removal. Winning before buff removal is discouraged, as the Lifer immediately attacks.

Removing the Lifer's Buffs

The Lifer possesses seven buffs, four removable using the Stake of Imbalance, and three permanent. The buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.

Removable Buffs (Fragility):

  • Growing Loneliness: 10% Max HP recovery per second after 2+ seconds without attack.
  • Desire for Escape: 25% ATK increase, plus an additional 25% every 20 seconds.
  • Impending Stalemate: 20% ATK increase per DMG dealt (stacks to 4). Stacks reset after 6 seconds without DMG.
  • Decay of Time: 200% resistance to all element types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc), and 25% Max HP increase.

Permanent Buffs (Stability):

  • Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
  • Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
  • Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP damage in a single hit.

To find the Stakes of Imbalance, use the Sensor near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (white glow). Some rooms require Tacet Discord defeats or Friable Rock destruction.

Place each Stake in the module near its corresponding statue to remove a buff. The purple line turns yellow upon successful buff removal.

Defeating the Lifer

With all four removable buffs gone, the Lifer is significantly weaker. Initiate combat via the board game or by selecting "Fight it out!" The Lifer's attacks pose minimal threat.

First victory rewards a Premium Supply Chest. Second victory adds another Premium and three Basic Supply Chests. Third victory grants an Advanced Supply Chest and three Standard Supply Chests. Buffs can be re-enabled for a harder fight, but no achievements are tied to this.

Lifer Achievements

  • The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
  • The Ring of The Lifer: Obtain all nine chests (defeat the Lifer three times).
  • Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
  • Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.

For board game struggles, focus on blocking the Lifer's lines. It will eventually make a mistake.
