Heroes of the Storm Revives Brawl Mode: A Celebration of Classic Maps and Challenges

Heroes of the Storm is bringing back the beloved Heroes Brawl, rebranded as Brawl Mode, introducing unique challenges on a plethora of previously unavailable maps. This marks the return of a fan-favorite game mode after a nearly five-year hiatus. Currently available on the Public Test Realm (PTR), Brawl Mode is slated for official release within a month.

The original Heroes Brawl, initially launched as Arena Mode in 2016, offered weekly rotating challenges with inventive twists on gameplay. Drawing inspiration from Hearthstone's Tavern Brawls, it featured unique map layouts, alternative objectives, and unconventional rulesets. Examples included all-Nova sniper duels, Arena-style battlefields, and the PvE Escape from Braxis mission. However, due to the rising preference for single-lane maps and the maintenance complexities, it was ultimately replaced by ARAM in 2020.

Now, Brawl Mode makes a triumphant return. The PTR update includes this exciting addition alongside hero balance adjustments and bug fixes. Brawl Mode will rotate bi-weekly, on the 1st and 15th of each month, offering players a special chest for completing three matches during its active period. The reward structure (single reward per Brawl or weekly rewards) is yet to be confirmed. Given the extensive roster of past Heroes Brawls (over two dozen), players can anticipate the return of many favorites, with the possibility of new Brawls in the future.

The inaugural Brawl Mode, the winter-themed Snow Brawl, is currently playable on the PTR. The in-game interface suggests a three-week PTR duration, hinting at a potential February launch for the official release. This coincides nicely with the upcoming 10-year anniversary of Heroes of the Storm on June 2nd, 2025.

The return of Brawl Mode is a significant win for Heroes of the Storm players, and many are hopeful this signifies a broader resurgence for the game.
