Awale: A West African Mancala Game

Awale, also known as Awele or Oware, is a two-player game belonging to the Mancala family. It shares similarities with East African games like Omweso, Bao, and Igisoro.

Played on a board with eight holes per player and a total of 64 seeds (or balls), each player's territory consists of the row of holes closest to them.

The objective is to capture the majority of your opponent's seeds, effectively preventing them from continuing the game.

Other members of the Mancala family include Ayo, Kisoro, and Omweso. It's believed that Mancala games originated in Ethiopia during the Aksumite Kingdom.
