The Asus Prime Geforce RTX 5080 Graphics Card Is Available at MSRP from Amazon

The days of paying hundreds of dollars over MSRP for a new Nvidia Blackwell GPU are behind us. Amazon currently has the Asus Prime GeForce RTX 5080 16GB Graphics Card in stock at its original launch price of $999.99 with free delivery. This is the first time I’ve seen one easily available at this price on Amazon—though you’ll need to be an Amazon Prime member to take advantage of this offer. You’ll have no trouble running any game at 4K resolution with frame rates of 60+ fps.

Compared to the previous generation, the GeForce RTX 5080 is about 5% to 10% faster than the discontinued RTX 4080 Super. While the generational performance gain is modest, the launch price matches that of the RTX 4080 Super, making it a comparable value. When the RTX 5080 first launched, it was nearly impossible to find at MSRP, with many paying over $1,500 from private sellers—those days are over.

Performance-wise, the RTX 5080 is no slouch. It’s one of the fastest GPUs on the market, surpassed only by the $2,000 RTX 5090 and the now-discontinued $1,600 RTX 4090. This is an excellent choice for playing the latest, most demanding games at 4K resolution with high settings and ray tracing enabled. The RTX 5080 supports DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, allowing you to achieve even higher frame rates in supported titles with minimal visual loss. Recent games that support it include Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (after a recent update), Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Stellar Blade. Most upcoming AAA titles are expected to support it as well.

The Asus Prime model features a triple-fan cooling solution with a slimmer 2.5-slot design, optimized to fit into a wider range of PCs, including certain SFF cases with extended dimensions.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 FE Review by Jacqueline Thomas**

"If you already own a high-end graphics card from the past couple of years, the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 may not be worth the upgrade—it offers only a modest performance edge over the RTX 4080. However, the added frames from DLSS 4 Multi-Frame Generation do enhance visual smoothness in supported games. For gamers with older hardware seeking a significant boost, the RTX 5080 delivers—especially if you’re comfortable with Nvidia’s AI-powered features."
