Suikoden's latest venture into the mobile space, Suikoden STAR LEAP, aims to provide an experience akin to console gaming. In an insightful interview with Famitsu on March 4, 2025, Star Leap's developers shared their vision for the game.

Star Leap Producer Shinya Fujimatsu explained the decision to go mobile, stating, "Our goal was to introduce Suikoden to as many people as possible. Mobile platforms are the most accessible, and we wanted to ensure that the essence of Suikoden was preserved. Hence, we're creating a fully-fledged installment for this platform."

The team at Konami is committed to blending the high-quality visuals, sound, and storytelling of console games with the convenience of mobile gaming, ensuring a rich experience for players.

Expressing Suikoden in STAR LEAP

Fujimatsu highlighted the unique aspects of Suikoden, emphasizing its blend of war themes with a focus on friendship. He noted, "In Suikoden STAR LEAP, capturing the essence of the 108 stars and their stories is crucial."

Director Yoshiki Meng Shan further detailed the series' signature elements, saying, "Suikoden balances an uplifting atmosphere with serious undertones, underscored by the camaraderie among characters. Additionally, the fast-paced, cooperative battle system is a hallmark of the series."

Both a Sequel and a Prequel to the Series

Suikoden STAR LEAP will serve as both a sequel and a prequel, weaving through various eras of the Suikoden universe. This new installment will officially expand the series' lore, starting two years before Suikoden 1 and covering multiple timelines from Suikoden 1 to 5.

Encouraging fans to anticipate Star Leap, Fujimatsu remarked, "We've designed the game to be accessible on mobile platforms, making it easy for newcomers to dive into the Suikoden world. We hope it will be your entry point into 'Suikoden Genso'."
