FromSoftware Enhances Elden Ring Nightreign Matchmaking with Server Upgrades

FromSoftware, the developer behind Elden Ring Nightreign, has completed server maintenance to optimize matchmaking performance.

Over the game’s debut weekend, FromSoftware addressed matchmaking challenges in Elden Ring Nightreign, advising players to restart the matchmaking process and, for PlayStation 4 and 5 users, to verify their NAT type.

Following maintenance on June 6 aimed at enhancing expedition matchmaking with an active Remembrance, online features are fully operational, raising hopes for a smoother player experience.

“Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers,” FromSoftware stated. “Limveld is ready.”

Despite early hurdles, Elden Ring Nightreign achieved 3.5 million sales within five days of launch. In contrast, Elden Ring sold 30 million copies since its 2022 release, while the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion moved 5 million units in three days in 2024.

Nightreign’s Steam user reviews have shifted from 'mixed' to 'mostly positive.' Initial criticism targeted its challenging solo mode, absence of duos co-op, lack of voice chat, and dated mechanics.

On Monday, FromSoftware released a patch easing solo play difficulty and announced that Duos mode is in development.

Looking ahead, FromSoftware plans to roll out DLC later this year, with new features, including improved battles against existing Nightlords, starting this month.
