In an interview with Game Developer, game director Carrie Patel highlighted how every decision, big or small, contributes to a cohesive and personalized journey.

"It's about providing players with continuous opportunities to shape their character's path," Patel explained. "The game encourages players to be mindful of each moment, asking themselves: 'When am I engaged? When am I curious? When does my interest wane? What keeps me invested?'"

Patel emphasized that the consequences in Avowed are directly tied to exploration and player choices within the intricate world of Eora, specifically within The Living Lands, where players vie for political power. "I've relished crafting storylines that interconnect these two worlds," she added.

Players assume the role of an Aedyran Empire envoy, tasked with investigating a spiritual plague while simultaneously pursuing their own political ambitions. "Meaningful roleplaying comes from giving players depth to explore," Patel stated. "It's about defining who you want to be in this world and how the game's events allow you to express that identity."

Beyond its deep RPG mechanics, Avowed features strategic combat blending magic, swords, and firearms. "The abilities and weapon combinations you choose create vastly different gameplay experiences with each playthrough," Patel noted.
