Xbox Unveils Avowed

A striking statue of a decayed knight, his armor rusted and adorned with real-life mushrooms, has emerged in London. This haunting installation, crafted by Xbox, not only serves as a chilling art piece but also a stark warning, drawing onlookers into the grim atmosphere of the Dreamscourge infection from the game Avowed. Complementing the installation, nearby posters promote the game on Xbox Series X|S, transforming a typical street into a gateway to Avowed's immersive world.

To give fans an insider's view of the creation process, Xbox has released an official video on YouTube, showcasing the making of this eerie promotional piece.

Meanwhile, Avowed has received widespread acclaim from the gaming community. An impressive 81% of Deluxe Edition players on Steam recommended the game even before its launch, building anticipation for the Standard Edition's release today.

Renowned gaming journalist Jason Schreier has shared his positive experience with Avowed, particularly praising its world design, storytelling, and combat. He was especially captivated by the game's exploration elements:

"Avowed has me hooked. Obsidian’s storytelling and combat were expectedly strong, but it’s the world’s design that stands out. Every pathway leads somewhere, every rooftop is accessible, and there’s always a hidden detail waiting to be found. Even after 40 hours, I keep coming back."

However, Schreier also pointed out a discrepancy between critics and players, drawing parallels to Fallout: New Vegas:

"Some of the reviews surprise me. It’s the same situation as Fallout: New Vegas—critics were split, but players turned it into a legend. Avowed could follow a similar trajectory."

Despite Fallout: New Vegas initially receiving a Metacritic score of 83, it has since become a revered classic. This raises the question: Is Avowed on a similar journey to becoming an iconic RPG?
