This Week's Biggest Pokémon Card Gainers and Losers - May 9
Another week brings more shifts in the bustling Pokémon TCG market as enthusiasts eagerly await the release of Destined Rivals. Thankfully, the Black Bolt and White Flare preorders at the Pokémon Center managed to sidestep any bot-related chaos this time around.
The standout price drop this week is Greninja ex 214/167, which has plummeted by nearly 50% since the start of the year. We're also witnessing significant price reductions across the Obsidian Flames and the coveted 151 expansions. On the flip side, Dragonite V from Evolving Skies has nearly doubled in value, a testament to its stunning artwork that many feel has been underappreciated.
Charizard V Alt Art continues to impress with its dynamic depiction of a battle against Venusaur, gradually climbing in value. Meanwhile, Rayquaza VMAX Alt Art is taking flight, adding an impressive $100 to its value since the beginning of the year. Let's delve into the week's most notable Pokémon TCG climbers and crashers.
Pokémon Card Crashes
IGN Photo Composite / The Pokémon CompanyWhile Sword and Shield era cards are finally seeing an upswing, Scarlet and Violet series cards are returning to more reasonable price points.
Alakazam ex SIR from 151, with its stunning design, is now 34% cheaper than it was at the beginning of March. It's an excellent opportunity to add Uri Gellar's Grandad to your collection.
Bulbasaur holds a special place in my heart as my first starter from Pokémon Blue. The Bulbasaur IR card has seen a massive 52% price drop since mid-March, making it a must-have for fans.
From Obsidian Flames, Ninetales IR remains a standout card. Now is the perfect time to grab this gem, as it's crashed by 40% from February to a reasonable $18.17.

The biggest crasher this month is Greninja ex SIR, which once was poised to be the priciest Scarlet and Violet card. However, Prismatic Evolutions stole the show. It's still a fantastic card valued at $275, but imagine paying $411.62 back in February.
Pokémon Card Climbers
IGN Photo Composite / The Pokémon CompanyTurning to this week's climbers, Rayquaza VMAX alt art remains a prized card from the Sword and Shield era. Already valued over $500, it's now at $649.99 and showing no signs of slowing down. It could reach the $1,000 mark in a few years, so consider investing if you can.
Charizard V Alt Art captures the essence of a battle against Venusaur beautifully. Its unique angle makes it feel dynamic, a refreshing change from many static Pokémon card designs. It's gained $40 since January and could easily surpass $200 by year's end.

Pokémon Card Sealed Boosters
For those committed to pulling chase cards themselves, here's what's currently in stock. Be cautious of prices above MSRP; the market is unpredictable right now, so avoid overpaying.
