"Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O Remaster Hits Steam: Classic Arcade Fighter Revived"
Get ready for the winter release of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O on Steam. Dive into the details of this eagerly awaited remaster of the iconic Virtua Fighter 5 game.
Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O Launches on Steam This Winter
Virtua Fighter Series' First Steam Debut
SEGA is bringing the beloved Virtua Fighter series to Steam for the very first time with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. This remaster marks the fifth major update to the 18-year-old Virtua Fighter 5. While the exact release date remains under wraps, SEGA has confirmed a winter launch.
SEGA has touted Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O as "the ultimate remaster of the classic 3D fighter." This version comes equipped with rollback netcode for seamless online play, even on less-than-ideal internet connections. It also boasts 4K graphics, updated high-resolution textures, and a smooth 60 fps performance, ensuring a visually stunning and fluid gaming experience.
Gamers can enjoy classic modes like Rank Match, Arcade, Training, and Versus. In addition, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O introduces two exciting new features: the ability to set up custom online tournaments and leagues for up to 16 players, and a Spectator Mode, where players can observe matches to learn new strategies and techniques.
The YouTube trailer for Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O has received a warm welcome from the community. Enthusiasts are thrilled about its arrival on PC, with one fan exclaiming, "Am I going to buy another copy of Virtua Fighter 5? You damn right." Despite the enthusiasm, some fans still hope for the release of Virtua Fighter 6, with one humorously stating, "Once the world is a radioactive wasteland with no internet after WW3, Sega will finally release VF6."
Initially Expected as Virtua Fighter 6
Earlier this month, an interview with VGC hinted at the development of Virtua Fighter 6. Justin Scarpone, SEGA’s global head of transmedia, mentioned ongoing projects including Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, Streets of Rage, Shinobi, and "another Virtua Fighter." However, these expectations were redirected when Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O was announced on Steam on November 22, featuring enhanced visuals, new modes, and rollback netcode.
The Return of the Classic Fighting Game
Virtua Fighter 5 originally debuted on the SEGA Lindbergh arcade platform in July 2006, later making its way to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007. The game's story revolves around the Fifth World Fighting Tournament, where 17 fighters initially competed, increasing to 19 in subsequent versions, including Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
Since its initial launch, Virtua Fighter 5 has seen several updates and remasters, each enhancing the original experience and broadening its reach:
- Virtua Fighter 5 R (2008)
- Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (2010)
- Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown (2021)
- Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O (2024)
With its updated visuals and modern features, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O continues to excite fans of the VF series, promising a fresh yet nostalgic experience on Steam this winter.
