The Staff of Ice, a unique Wonder Weapon in Black Ops 6 Zombies, starts weak but transforms into a high-round powerhouse. This guide details its upgrade process on The Tomb map.

Prerequisites:

Before upgrading, you need the Staff of Ice itself. Obtain it from the Mystery Box or by assembling its three parts. Early access to the Dark Aether Nexus, achieved by opening the Door to Nowhere, is crucial.

Upgrade Steps:

Step 1: Freezing Dark Aether Crystals:

Freeze three Dark Aether Crystals consecutively using the Staff of Ice. These crystals reside in underground Dark Aether lanterns (black frame, purple glow). Perks like Stamin-Up and PHD Flopper (with Tribologist) significantly aid this fast-paced step. Optimize your route; a suggested path involves the tomb area, the Shrine of the Hierophants, and the Subterranean Temple entrance lantern (avoiding the lantern near Quick Revive due to distance). Successful completion triggers a quote from Archibald, signaling progression to the Dark Aether Nexus.

Step 2: Targeting Floating Runes:

Within the Dark Aether Nexus, locate three floating rocks bearing glowing purple Runes. Each Rune displays a unique symbol (note these down, as they vary per game). Use the Staff of Ice to shoot each Rune; a hitmarker confirms success. Shooting the Rune causes the rock to descend, improving visibility. A scoped weapon can enhance accuracy. The order of shooting the rocks is inconsequential.

Step 3: Solving the Rune Puzzle:

After Step 2, a stone wall replaces a portal in the Dark Aether Nexus, leading back to a specific map area. Locate the corresponding wall displaying several Runes; three match the symbols noted earlier. Shoot these three matching Runes with the Staff of Ice. The portal will reopen, regardless of accuracy; however, incorrect selections result in a mid-air Dark Aether Nexus drop. If unsuccessful, wait for the next round. Correct choices transport you to a floating rock with a purple orb. Interact with the orb.

Step 4: Escorting the Soul Chest Orb:

The activated orb begins moving. Maintain proximity and eliminate zombies near it; their essence fuels the orb’s journey. The orb eventually reaches a central structure in the Dark Aether Nexus, forming a small purple portal. Interact with it to upgrade the Staff of Ice to Ull’s Arrow.

Ull’s Arrow Abilities:

The upgraded Ull’s Arrow boasts a powerful charged AoE attack and an alternate fire mode for reviving downed teammates, mirroring its Black Ops 2 and 3 counterparts.
