Tribe Nine Shuts Down After Three Months

by Oliver Jun 02,2026
  • Tribe Nine's latest update has been canceled, and its End of Service (EOS) has been officially announced.
  • The game servers will be permanently shut down on November 27th.
  • Players who purchased Enigma Entities will receive refunds, and all in-game purchases have been suspended.

It's rare for me to be genuinely stunned when reporting news, but I believe many share my surprise upon learning that Tribe Nine is being shut down. A recent announcement confirmed the servers will go offline on November 27th, and all planned future updates have been scrapped.

This marks a bitter end for Tribe Nine, a game that celebrated over ten million downloads just a few months ago. Inspired by the anime of the same name and featuring artwork by Danganronpa's renowned artist Rui Komatsuzaki, the game blended standard ARPG action with unique "Xtreme Baseball" boss battles familiar to fans of the series.

The abrupt termination of Tribe Nine continues a troubling pattern in recent years, with numerous games being discontinued less than a year after launch. For dedicated players, this trend makes it difficult to invest deeply in new titles, knowing the looming threat of an early End of Service.

Given that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has been featured in the well-received Hundred Line: Last Defence Academy on other platforms, the cancellation of Tribe Nine is particularly puzzling. However, pulling the plug so soon after launch could damage the reputation of developer Akatsuki Games.

With another anime-based game, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the way, Akatsuki is likely counting on attracting fans of the original series. Yet, casual players may look at the company's history and hesitate, fearing a repeat scenario. Regardless, for fans of Tribe Nine, this news certainly casts a shadow over the day.

On a brighter note, there are still plenty of fantastic games available to enjoy. For some fresh recommendations, check out our latest feature highlighting the top five new mobile games to try this week.
