Top Khonshu Decks for Marvel Snap Revealed

Discard players, rejoice! Khonshu, the God of the Moon, has been added to *Marvel Snap*, bringing a powerful new tool for discard-focused decks. This card is one of the most intricate Second Dinner has introduced yet, so let's dive into how Khonshu functions and how you can make the most of him in your gameplay.

How Khonshu Works in Marvel Snap

Khonshu is a 6-cost, 5-power card with a unique ability: When discarded, it returns in its next phase. On Reveal, Khonshu resurrects a card you discarded to another location, setting its power to 5.

Khonshu's 'next phase' transforms him into a 6-cost, 8-power card. When discarded again, he returns in his final phase. On Reveal, he resurrects a discarded card to another location with its power set to 8.

Khonshu's 'final phase' is a 6-cost, 12-power card. On Reveal, it resurrects a discarded card to another location, boosting its power to 12.

With each discard, Khonshu upgrades himself, enhancing his On Reveal effect significantly, similar to how Apocalypse operates. The strategy with Khonshu often involves discarding him one or two times before playing him on the final turn to resurrect a card like Iron Man or Gorr the God Butcher, benefiting from the power boost. While Khonshu can't revive specific cards, playing his final phase on turn 6 to resurrect a 1-cost card like Meek at 12 power can secure victory.

Best Day One Khonshu Decks in Marvel Snap

Finding the optimal deck for Khonshu may require some trial and error, as he doesn't seamlessly fit into traditional discard decks. Instead, he could work well in a Darkhawk-style Stature list, as well as in other alternative discard-type decks. Here's a look at the former:

  • Korg
  • Blade
  • Fenris Wolf
  • Juggernaut
  • Moon Knight
  • Lady Sif
  • Rock Slide
  • Silver Samurai
  • Darkhawk
  • Black Bolt
  • Stature
  • Khonshu

The only Series 5 card here is Fenris Wolf, crucial for resurrecting an opponent's discarded card from Moon Knight, Silver Samurai, or Black Bolt, which can be a game-winning move.

The strategy with this deck is to fill your opponent's deck with rocks to power up Darkhawk while discarding Khonshu as much as possible. Key cards like Moon Knight and Blade can repeatedly hit Khonshu, while timing is crucial to ensure Moon Knight targets Khonshu instead of Rock Slide. Play Stature early to enable a turn 5 Darkhawk and a turn 6 Khonshu to revive a card at 8-12 power, significantly boosting your board.

Although Khonshu may not fit into traditional discard decks over Apocalypse, there's potential for experimentation. His 6-cost nature makes it challenging to play him alongside Apocalypse without energy ramp, such as with Corvus Glaive:

  • Miek
  • Scorn
  • Blade
  • Morbius
  • Swarm
  • Moon Knight
  • Corvus Glaive
  • Lady Sif
  • Dracula
  • MODOK
  • Khonshu
  • Apocalypse

The only Series 5 card here is Scorn, which can be substituted with another discard activator like Colleen Wing or X-23 for more energy ramp.

This deck leans on traditional discard strategies but relies heavily on playing Corvus Glaive on turn 3 to facilitate dropping Khonshu alongside other discard activators, boosting Apocalypse and flooding the board. Whether this outperforms traditional discard decks without Khonshu is uncertain, but achieving Khonshu's final phase with cards like Moon Knight, Blade, and Lady Sif while maintaining Apocalypse's strength for Dracula to absorb is quite feasible.

Is Khonshu Worth Spotlight Cache Keys or Collector’s Tokens?

Regardless of your affinity for discard decks, Khonshu is both a powerful and intriguing card. He's likely to become a key component in several hybrid discard lists and could well become meta-relevant. If you have the resources, picking up Khonshu is a wise investment, offering new strategic depth and potential for game-changing plays.
