by Andrew May 01,2025

Dating sims are a popular genre, but what about a breakup simulator? That's precisely what you get with Thirsty Suitors, an upcoming narrative-driven action-adventure game that's set to join the Netflix Games lineup. Already available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam, this title promises a unique gaming experience.

Developed by Outerloop Games, Thirsty Suitors has already garnered significant acclaim, winning the 2022 Tribeca Games Awards and receiving nominations for prestigious awards such as the 2024 New York Game Awards for the Herman Melville Award for Best Writing in a Game and the 2024 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Video Game. The game's setting is rooted in the 1990s, exploring themes of culture, relationships, and self-expression.

In Thirsty Suitors, players will engage in turn-based RPG combat against their exes, navigate the complexities of disappointing their parents, and embark on a journey of self-discovery. The combat system includes a mood system that lets players exploit vulnerabilities for strategic advantages.

Thirsty Suitors Gameplay

Beyond combat, the game showcases your skating and cooking skills. You'll have the chance to impress your mom and mend your relationship by preparing South Asian-inspired meals. Explore the town of Timber Hills on your skateboard, performing impressive tricks like grinding and wall runs as you unravel the secrets of Bearfoot Park.

Chandana "Eka" Ekanayake of Outerloop Games is set to participate in a panel at the annual Games for Change Festival in New York on June 27th and 28th. Joining Ekanayake will be Matt Korba and Matt Daigle from The Odd Gentlemen, Caitlin Shell from Brandible Games, and Leanne Loombe from Netflix. The discussion will focus on representation in video games and the importance of making underrepresented players feel seen.

Thirsty Suitors will soon be available on the App Store and Google Play for free to Netflix subscribers. To stay updated with the latest news and learn more about the game, visit the official website or follow Outerloop Games on X (formerly Twitter) or YouTube.
