"Switch 2 Zelda Ports: Repair Equipment Using Zelda Notes App"
Exciting news for fans of The Legend of Zelda series: the Nintendo Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are set to receive several upgrades, including a highly anticipated feature for equipment repair. As highlighted by YouTuber Zeltik during a recent Nintendo Treehouse Live stream, the Zelda Notes app—a mobile companion app exclusive to these Nintendo Switch 2 versions—introduces a Daily Bonus feature. Players can access this feature to roll for various in-game benefits, such as meal effects, health and stamina recovery, and crucially, Equipment Repairs.
Both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom incorporate a durability system where weapons, shields, and other items degrade and eventually break after repeated use. This mechanic has stirred debate among the gaming community, making the prospect of repairing your cherished Flameblade particularly appealing. However, the repair feature comes with a caveat: it's based on chance. The Daily Bonus operates via a roulette wheel, randomly determining which bonus you receive, so Equipment Repair is not guaranteed every day. Additionally, players must wait out a timer before their next spin, making this feature useful in a pinch but not a complete overhaul of the game's mechanics.
Beyond equipment repairs, the Zelda Notes app offers a range of other intriguing features. Both games will now include their own set of achievements through the mobile companion program, enhancing player engagement. Special audio memories will also enrich the lore and background of Hyrule, adding depth to the open-world experience. These upgrades, combined with performance improvements on the Nintendo Switch 2, promise to enhance the gameplay for those who were frustrated by the constant need to replace their favorite weapons.
