"Spider-Verse Star Yet to Record Lines"

by Gabriel May 12,2025

Fans eagerly awaiting the release of "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse" will have to exercise patience, as star Jharrel Jerome has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third installment hasn't even begun yet. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't recorded any lines for the film, and a lot of things are still "being figured out." This news comes as a slight disappointment, especially considering the second film, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse," arrived five years after the first in 2023.

"No, I wish," Jerome remarked when asked about the start of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome had a relatively minor role in "Across the Spider-Verse," his character, Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, is poised to play a significant part in the third film. Spoiler alert for the finale of "Across the Spider-Verse": Jerome's character appears set to be the main antagonist, transitioning from a potential Spider-Man to the Prowler. In this alternate reality, the radioactive spider that was meant to bite Miles G. Morales instead bit the protagonist Miles Morales, leading to a drastically different life path for Earth-42's Miles. Without becoming Spider-Man and following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell into the hands of supervillains, and Miles G. Morales joined their ranks.

The clash between this version of Miles and the main Miles Morales, who did become Spider-Man, is expected to be a central theme in "Beyond the Spider-Verse." However, fans will need to wait a bit longer to see this story unfold. According to Deadline, the earliest release date for the film is projected to be 2026, though maintaining the release pace of the previous film might push it to 2028.
