Spider-Man 2 came out on PC and was hacked within an hour

When *Spider-Man 2* hit the PC market via Steam and the Epic Games Store, it arrived without any protective measures in place, making it impossible to hack before its official release. The reason behind this was straightforward: there were no pre-order or pre-download options available for the PC version, and the game itself was a hefty 140 gigabytes.

Remarkably, within an hour of *Spider-Man 2's* PC launch, hackers managed to download and crack the game despite its lack of sophisticated defense systems. Sony kept the marketing for the project relatively low-key, and the system requirements were only revealed a day before the game's PC release. On Steam, *Marvel's Spider-Man 2* currently ranks seventh among Sony's biggest releases, trailing behind titles like *God of War*, *Horizon*, and even *Days Gone*.

Initial player feedback has been less than stellar, with the game garnering a 55% positive review rating from 1,280 reviews at the time of this post. Players have reported issues with optimization, frequent crashes, and various bugs.

In contrast, *Spider-Man Remastered* continues to dominate as the top performer in the series on PC, having once attracted over 66,000 concurrent players. Whether *Spider-Man 2* can come close to matching the first game's record remains to be seen, particularly over the upcoming Friday and weekend. If the current sales momentum holds, the game still has a solid chance of achieving a respectable outcome.
