Silent Hill Transmission Reveals New Details on Silent Hill f

New Official Reveal Trailer

The recent Silent Hill Transmission event on March 13, 2025 unveiled fresh insights about Silent Hill f alongside an atmospheric new trailer. Breaking from tradition, the game transports players to 1960s Japan instead of the series' fictional American town.

The official synopsis states: "Shimizu Hinako was an ordinary teenager until a mysterious fog engulfed her town, transforming it into a nightmare landscape. Navigating unfamiliar streets filled with grotesque creatures, she must solve puzzles and fight to survive while facing an ultimately beautiful yet horrifying decision."

Set in the fictional town of Ebisugaoka (modeled after Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture), developers meticulously recreated 1960s Japan through historical references, sound recordings of daily life, and painstaking attention to the region's intricate alleyways.

Finding Beauty in Terror

Silent Hill f's juxtaposition of beauty and horror

Series producer Motoi Okamoto explained Silent Hill f's core philosophy: "We wanted to explore how terror can emerge from beauty itself - when something becomes too perfect, it becomes unsettling. Players will experience this through a young girl's eyes as she faces an impossibly difficult choice."

While maintaining the series' psychological horror roots, the team consciously embraced Japanese horror sensibilities, creating something both familiar yet fundamentally different for the franchise.

A Standalone Silent Hill Experience

Silent Hill f as an independent story

Okamoto emphasized that Silent Hill f tells a completely original story, accessible to newcomers while rewarding long-time fans with subtle callbacks. The game features writing by renowned visual novelist Ryukishi07, whose psychological horror background makes him ideally suited for the project.

Ryukishi07, a lifelong Silent Hill fan, described the development journey: "Our greatest challenge was creating an authentic Silent Hill experience without relying on the iconic town. We're confident we've succeeded, but ultimately it's the fans who will decide."

Silent Hill f is currently available for wishlisting on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. While no specific release date has been announced, players can stay updated through official channels.
