Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge Unveiled: Super Thin Design

by Zoey May 25,2025

Samsung unveiled its latest flagship, the Galaxy S25 Edge, at the May Unpacked event. This new model, while sharing similarities with the earlier-released Galaxy S25, introduces a sleeker, thinner design that promises to give it a competitive edge.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge mirrors the specs of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, equipped with the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a robust 200MP camera. The key difference lies in its chassis, which has been refined to a mere 5.8mm thickness, down from the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This slim profile not only makes the phone lighter at just 163g but also positions it as a standout in terms of design.

Despite its thin build, the Galaxy S25 Edge retains the same impressive 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display found in the Galaxy S25, matching closely with the slightly larger 6.9-inch display of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Given its slim and large form factor, durability is a significant concern. Samsung addresses this by upgrading to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which they claim is more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The real test, however, will be its resilience against everyday mishaps like sitting on it in your pocket, raising questions about potential "bendgate" issues.

The Galaxy S25 Edge also inherits the suite of "Mobile AI" tools first introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and enhanced in 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables substantial AI processing on the device, enhancing privacy by minimizing reliance on cloud services. Despite this, many AI applications will still use cloud computing. Samsung offers unique features like summarizing notifications and news articles, adding a layer of convenience for users.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB version. The phone is available in three elegant colors: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.

Samsung is keen to highlight the durability of this sleek device, and we can only hope it lives up to the promise.
