Rare Mount Recolors Added to WoW, With a Twist
World of Warcraft is introducing two stunning new mounts to its Chinese servers: the *Blazing Royal Fire Hawk* and the *Golden Ashes of Al’ar*. These exclusive items are reimagined versions of the extremely rare *Pureblood Fire Hawk* and *Ashes of Al’ar*, originally obtainable only through low-percentage raid drops. Available starting January 15, these mounts are part of special promotions tailored specifically for players in China.
The *Blazing Royal Fire Hawk* closely resembles the original *Pureblood Fire Hawk*, a legendary mount that once dropped from Ragnaros in the Firelands raid introduced in *Cataclysm*. However, this new version includes subtle yet meaningful design elements—its wings feature *xiangyun*, or “auspicious clouds,” symbols deeply rooted in Chinese culture representing peace, immortality, and good fortune. This artistic touch adds cultural depth and makes it a standout collectible for mount enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, the *Golden Ashes of Al’ar* offers a luxurious redesign of the iconic phoenix mount that originally dropped from Kael’thas Sunstrider in *The Burning Crusade* expansion’s The Eye raid. This gilded edition features a sleek black saddle and a revised flavor text that pays tribute to one of Warcraft’s most memorable villains: *“The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback.”*
How to Obtain These Exclusive Mounts
The *Blazing Royal Fire Hawk* can be obtained through an event known as the **Treasure Workshop**, though further details about the event mechanics have not yet been fully disclosed. On the other hand, the *Golden Ashes of Al’ar* is available via **Landro’s Loot Box**, which costs ¥200 (approximately $27). Each loot box contains one of eight possible high-value rewards, including other rare items such as the *X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME* and the *Swift Spectral Tiger*, a highly sought-after mount previously exclusive to World of Warcraft’s discontinued Trading Card Game.
Players can team up when purchasing these loot boxes, unlocking additional crates upon reaching specific spending thresholds, making it a potentially rewarding group activity for dedicated fans.
Are These Mounts Coming to Other Regions?
As of now, there is no official confirmation that the *Blazing Royal Fire Hawk* or the *Golden Ashes of Al’ar* will be made available outside of China. Unlike previous exclusive content like the *Xiao Liu* pet—which included a teleportation function and was region-locked initially—these mounts appear to remain exclusive to the Chinese server for the foreseeable future. International players will need to admire these impressive designs from afar unless Blizzard announces a broader release later on.
