PUBG Creator Unveils Plans for Palworld Mobile

Krafton and Pocket Pair are joining forces to bring a mobile version of the popular monster-catching game, Palworld, to mobile devices. Krafton, known for PUBG, will leverage its expertise to adapt the core gameplay for a mobile audience, expanding the Palworld IP through this licensing agreement. Development will be handled by Krafton's subsidiary, PUBG Studios.

Many Unanswered Questions Remain

While the partnership is exciting, details about the mobile Palworld remain scarce. The original Palworld launched on Xbox and Steam in January, achieving significant success and recently arriving on PlayStation 5 (excluding Japan). This exclusion may be linked to an ongoing legal battle between Nintendo and Pocket Pair, concerning alleged patent infringement related to the mechanics of capturing creatures, reminiscent of Pokémon's Pokéball system. Pocket Pair denies knowledge of the specific patents in question.

Krafton's Crucial Role

The collaboration with Krafton is strategic, given Pocket Pair's current focus on developing the existing game. Krafton's experience makes them ideal for tackling the complexities of a mobile port. However, it's likely the project is in its early stages, so substantial information is yet to be revealed.

Further details regarding the mobile version – whether it will be a direct port or a modified experience – are eagerly anticipated. For now, players can explore the official Steam page for a comprehensive overview of the game's features and gameplay.
