"Predator Movies: How to Watch in Chronological Order"
Humans often think of themselves as the top of the food chain, but in the galactic arena, we're just barely holding our own. The Predator franchise, which kicked off with the iconic Arnold Schwarzenegger film in 1987, introduces us to the "Yautja"—towering, trophy-hunting aliens who scour the universe for the thrill of the hunt and have even been known to abduct species for sport on their home planet.
The first two Predator films, released in 1987 and 1990, set the stage for this thrilling saga. Given the Xenomorphs from the Alien series are another cinematic menace to humanity, it was a natural progression in the 2000s to blend these universes with two Alien vs. Predator movies. In the subsequent decade, directors like Robert Rodriguez, Shane Black, and Dan Trachtenberg each added their unique flair to the franchise.
With two new Predator movies slated for 2025, it's the perfect time to dive back into the original sci-fi classics. If you're eager to watch every Predator movie in sequence, we've got you covered! Below, you'll find a detailed timeline of the Predator movies and where to watch them online.

Predator Movies in (Chronological) Order
1. Prey (2022)
Prey is a prequel set in 1719 across the Great Plains. It follows a young Comanche woman named Naru (Amber Midthunder) who, while accompanying her brother on a hunt, finds herself in the sights of a more primitive Predator. Determined to prove her worth, Naru sets her sights on taking down the alien hunter in this fresh and exhilarating addition to the three-decade saga.

2. Predator (1987)
It all began with 1987's Predator, directed by John McTiernan of Die Hard fame, and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger at the peak of his career, along with Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, Bill Duke, and Shane Black (who later directed his own Predator film). Predator is a classic action film where a seemingly unstoppable military rescue team encounters a terrifying, invisible force in the jungles of South America. When the attacker is revealed to be an alien hunter on a sinister safari, Schwarzenegger's Dutch must outwit and defeat a creature far superior in technology and tactics.

3. Predator 2 (1990)
A few years later, Predator 2 brought more action and chaos to the big screen, with a new cast and setting. Set in a near-future heatwave and crimewave in 1997 Los Angeles, the film follows a group of cops, including Danny Glover, Bill Paxton, Ruben Blades, and María Conchita Alonso, as they tackle not only a bloody cartel war but also a ruthless alien Predator stalking the city for victims.

4. AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004)
After a 14-year hiatus, the Predator returned with a bang in a crossover with the Alien franchise. Alien vs. Predator, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, was a major hit, revitalizing both sci-fi/horror series. Set in present-day America, AVP reveals that Predators have been hunting on Earth for centuries, using humans as hosts for Xenomorphs and then hunting the resulting creatures for sport. Sanaa Lathan, Lance Henriksen, Raoul Bova, and Ewen Bremner star.

5. Aliens vs Predator: Requiem (2007)
The sequel to AVP, Aliens vs Predator: Requiem, continues the battle without a break in the timeline. Although not as successful as its predecessor and the last crossover film, Requiem introduced the terrifying "Predalien" as it wreaks havoc on a small Colorado town. A Predator "cleaner" is dispatched to deal with this new threat.

6. Predators (2010)
The only Predator movie not set on Earth, Predators, directed by Robert Rodriguez, takes audiences to a distant planet used as a Yautja game reserve. With a stellar cast including Adrien Brody, Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne, Topher Grace, and Alice Braga, the film reveals how humans, specifically "established killers," are abducted and hunted by warring Yautja tribes. While the exact Earth year is ambiguous, it can be placed in the early 21st century for chronological viewing.

7. The Predator (2018)
Despite Predators being a moderate success, it took eight years for the next Predator film to hit theaters. The Predator, directed and co-written by Shane Black, returns to the franchise's roots with a squad of unstable soldiers—played by Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, and Alfie Allen—battling not one but two rampaging Predators and thwarting their DNA splicing plans. The film ends with a tease for future installments, while alternate endings hinted at potential crossovers with the Alien franchise.
