Nishino Appointed CEO of Sony Interactive, Totoki Named Sony CEO

Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This news comes from a recent press release, which also announced significant changes at the top of Sony Corporation. Hiroki Totoki, the current CFO of Sony, will ascend to the role of president and CEO of the entire company, taking over from Kenichiro Yoshida, who has been at the helm since April 2018, succeeding Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently the SVP of finance, corporate development, and strategy, will step into the role of CFO.

Just a year ago, it was announced that Nishino and Hermen Hulst would jointly lead SIE following the retirement of former CEO Jim Ryan. Under this arrangement, Hulst took charge of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino was responsible for hardware and technology. With the latest executive shuffle, Nishino will now oversee the entire SIE operation and lead the platform business group. Meanwhile, Hulst will continue his role as the head of PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the platform experience group. Reflecting on his new role, Nishino stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm at Sony Interactive Entertainment. Technology and creativity are two of our biggest strengths as we continue to focus on developing experiences that deliver entertainment for everyone.
