Nintendo Switch 2 Reviews Delayed Until June 5
Today, the gaming community eagerly awaits the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, set for June 5. However, IGN readers should be aware of a significant change in Nintendo's approach: there will be no traditional pre-launch review access to the Switch 2 hardware. This means we won't be able to provide timely reviews of highly anticipated titles like Mario Kart World, Welcome Tour, or the upgraded Zelda games and other ports before the launch. This departure from the norm has disrupted the usual process of delivering in-depth reviews and insights before a console hits the market.
At IGN, we pride ourselves on being able to provide you with all the information you need about new hardware and games right when you're making crucial decisions about your purchases. This situation presents a challenge, but it's not the first time we've had to adapt. We're committed to delivering the next best thing with the same high-quality standards you expect from us.

As soon as our preordered Switch 2 units arrive, we'll dive straight into providing you with the most comprehensive coverage possible. This includes a review in progress of Mario Kart World by our in-house champion and NVC host, Logan Plant, and detailed impressions of the Switch 2 Editions of Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and third-party ports like Cyberpunk 2077 and Hogwarts Legacy. We'll focus on their performance and how they compare to previous versions on other platforms. Additionally, our team will evaluate all the hardware, including the Switch 2 console itself (reviewed by Tom Marks, who has covered the Switch and Switch Lite), the new Joy-Cons, the Pro Controller 2 (evaluated by controller expert Michael Higham), the camera, and every other accessory we can get our hands on.
Our aim is to have most, if not all, of these reviews and evaluations published within a week or so of the launch. We'll also be ready to address any major questions that arise as early adopters worldwide begin to explore the capabilities of this new console. There's a lot to cover, but we're fully prepared to deliver the insights you need.
