Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet seems poised to grant players far greater freedom than the studio's prior releases. Reports suggest the team drew inspiration from Elden Ring, incorporating comparable open-world exploration mechanics.

Journalist Ben Hanson explains the game unfolds across a vast single planet, where players will unravel the secrets of a lost civilization while investigating a new religion central to the narrative. While its adherence to traditional open-world design remains uncertain, the developers clearly aim to evolve beyond their earlier linear game structures.

The Heretic Prophet marks the studio's first solo protagonist experience - featuring no companions or allies. As Neil Druckmann describes, the game explores isolation in an uncharted universe alongside profound examinations of faith. The alternate-future narrative centers on Sempiria, a planet isolated from galactic civilization for six centuries, where bounty hunter Jordan Moon arrives to fulfill a contract.

Druckmann cites Half-Life 2 and Monkey Island as key influences, potentially indicating reduced reliance on traditional guidance in favor of player-driven narrative discovery.

First revealed at TGA 2024, the project currently lacks a confirmed release window.
