Monster Hunter Wilds Update 1.011 Details Out May 28
Monster Hunter Wilds game director Yuya Tokuda has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming Version 1.011 update launching May 28, featuring substantial new content and gameplay enhancements including a special crossover event with Street Fighter 6.
In his latest developer update, Tokuda explained the team's goal to "deliver fresh experiences while refining existing systems to enhance overall enjoyment," notably introducing Akuma from Street Fighter as a formidable new opponent. Players can obtain the complete Arkuma armor set as layered armor, with special movesets including Assisted Combo Akuma, Drive Impact, and Gou Hadoken automatically added to your item bar when equipped (detailed breakdowns available on the official Monster Hunter site).
Version 1.011 elevates the challenge with new eight-star threat monsters - Gore Magala, Rey Dau, Uth Duna, Nu Udra, and Jin Dahaad unlock for hunters at HR41+. These provide alternative high-difficulty targets beyond Arkveld (which remains available at seven-star). The enhanced variants boast greater durability through health buffs, wound resistance, and optimized multiplayer balancing, with Tokuda specifically cautioning that Tempered Gore Magala presents "an extreme test for veteran hunters." Higher HR rankings will also trigger more frequent multi-monster quests.
Substantial weapon rebalancing arrives across multiple hunting tools in both Version 1.011 and Title Update 2. The Hammer, Hunting Horn, Gunlance, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun receive comprehensive tuning, with Gunlance Artian weapons seeing particular stat upgrades.
"While some adjustments represent nerfs to specific parameters, these are offset by buffs elsewhere - ultimately expanding tactical possibilities across all weapon classes," Tokuda noted, urging players to experiment post-update. He confirmed additional quality-of-life improvements specifically for Hammer and Dual Blades users.
Several convenience upgrades accompany the update: Hunters can now recover at Grand Hub/Suja resting points to automatically rebuild destroyed Pop-up Camps. Inventory management improves with streamlined overflow handling (full-pouch items now auto-transfer to storage) and clearer meal effect timers (displaying 10-minute warnings). Notification systems are optimized to prioritize critical alerts without interrupting map access.
"Following our previous roadmap, you'll now be able to review captured endemic life," Tokuda added. "At Windward Plains' Ecological Research station, examine your collection including fish dimensions/weights - with a new favorite system preserving special specimens beyond storage limits. Unique variants feature distinctive patterns, so tag your prized finds!"
The update delivers technical optimizations (notably Steam-specific improvements) alongside boosted eight-star investigation rewards. Fishing Guild Points undergo undisclosed redistribution adjustments.
Capcom's flagship hunting franchise reaches new heights with Monster Hunter Wilds, presenting evolving ecosystems and dualistic environments ranging from brutal wastelands to thriving habitats. Our review scored Wilds an 8/10, praising its "smart refinements to series conventions" while noting veteran hunters might desire greater challenge.
