Monster Hunter Wilds: Unique Weapon Designs Revealed - IGN First
Fans of the Monster Hunter series have been vocal about their dissatisfaction with the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, often citing that the weapons lacked distinctiveness. With the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Wilds, there was curiosity and some concern about whether the new game would address these issues. While initial glimpses of Monster Hunter Wilds weapons have been intriguing, it wasn't until a recent statement from the game's Director, Yuya Tokuda, that fans received clarity on the design philosophy of the new title.
Discussing the Hope series armor and weapons, Tokuda explained: "Incidentally, weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World generally retained a certain form, but they featured a customized appearance based on which monster materials were used. However, in Wilds, each weapon has its own unique design." This statement directly addresses the concerns about weapon similarity, assuring fans that Monster Hunter Wilds will feature weapons with distinct and individual designs.
This approach marks a significant departure from Monster Hunter: World, where even the most upgraded versions of weapons like the final aqua line Sword and Shield and the final bone line Long Sword bore striking resemblances to other weapons, such as the Pukei-Pukei and Jyuratodus lines, respectively. The image below illustrates these similarities, captured on the PS4 during the initial release of Monster Hunter: World.

In contrast, the weapons showcased so far in Monster Hunter Wilds are undeniably unique, as demonstrated in the slideshow below. Each weapon boasts a distinct aesthetic, promising a more varied and visually engaging experience for players.
