First, you need to unlock this crafting system. Complete the main story to reach High Rank, then continue until you defeat your first Tempered monster. We won't spoil which one, but the NPCs will give you plenty of hints about its formidable nature.

After defeating this tough opponent, Gemma will contact you to discuss Artian weapons, initiating a tutorial. You'll learn that she can craft them. Each weapon type requires three components—at least one of each is needed for crafting. But there's more to it than that.

Components have rarity, element type, and an Artian bonus. Only components of the same rarity can be combined. The weapon's elemental effect depends on the most prevalent element among your components. Two water and one lightning component result in a water weapon; three water components create a stronger water infusion. Three different elements result in no elemental infusion.

The Artian bonus enhances either attack or affinity. Attack increases raw damage, while affinity boosts critical hit chance. The choice is yours, depending on your preferred playstyle.

How to Obtain Artian Materials in Monster Hunter: World

Acquiring Artian materials is straightforward: hunt Tempered monsters in High Rank. Usually, one or two roam each area after defeating your first. In-game notifications will alert you to their presence, and their blue map outlines make them easy to spot.

Defeating or capturing a Tempered monster yields Artian parts, found among your post-mission rewards, alongside decorations. Rarity increases with your hunter rank. While there's no direct link between hunted monster and Artian material type, hunt monsters you enjoy or need parts from for other weapons or armor.
