Marvel Explores Defenders Reunion Strategies

by Lillian May 16,2025

The anticipation for the next season of *Daredevil* is palpable, and the creators are already plotting the future, including the possibility of a *Defenders* reunion. In an extensive feature by Entertainment Weekly (EW), Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming and TV, expressed enthusiasm about bringing back the street-level heroes of *Daredevil*, *Luke Cage*, *Jessica Jones*, and *Iron Fist*, collectively known as The Defenders.

While no plans are set in concrete yet, Winderbaum shared his excitement with EW, saying, “It’s certainly exciting to be able to play in that sandbox… Obviously, we don’t have the unlimited storytelling resources like a comic book, [where] if you can draw it, you can do it. We’re dealing with actors and time and the massive scale of production in order to build a cinematic universe, especially on television.”

He continued, “But I can just say that all those variables taken into account, it is certainly something that is creatively extremely exciting and that we are very much exploring.”

*Daredevil: Born Again* is set to be a direct continuation of the *Daredevil* story that began on Netflix. Netflix once hosted its own Marvel universe, albeit on a smaller scale, with series like *Jessica Jones*, *Iron Fist*, and *Luke Cage*. Winderbaum’s comments suggest that *Daredevil: Born Again* could serve as a launchpad to bring these characters back to life on Disney’s terms through Disney Plus. The inclusion of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in the new season is a testament to another Netflix hero being officially transitioned over.

For now, fans will need to wait until *Daredevil: Born Again* premieres on March 4 to see how it unfolds and how it might tie into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
