While the increase in price between console generations isn't something I'm thrilled about, I recognize the escalating costs of game development. Hopefully, this higher price reflects the grand scale and immersive experience Mario Kart World promises to deliver.

What Is Mario Kart World?

Mario Kart World is poised to be the most ambitious Mario Kart game to date, featuring an open-world environment reminiscent of the Forza Horizon series. In Grand Prix mode, you can seamlessly transition from one race to the next across the expansive world. The game's tracks are dynamically affected by weather and time of day, influencing visibility and traction. You're not confined to the tracks either; Nintendo promises you can drive "virtually everywhere" within the game's world. With 24 drivers per race, it's the largest field in Mario Kart history.

A new mode, Knockout Tour, challenges you to race across the open world, hitting checkpoints with specific placement requirements. Fall behind, and you're out of the race.
