Lunar Remastered Collection Release Date Announced

by Camila Feb 25,2025

The highly anticipated Lunar Remastered Collection is set to launch on April 18th, bringing the classic JRPG duology to modern platforms. Developed by Game Arts and published by GungHo Online Entertainment, this collection will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S compatibility).

This remaster boasts updated visuals, a re-recorded soundtrack, and numerous quality-of-life improvements. Features include fully voiced dialogue in Japanese and English, with added French and German subtitles; a classic mode for a retro gaming experience; and enhanced gameplay with faster combat and auto-battle options. These additions, now common in JRPG remasters (similar to Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake and the upcoming Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster), aim to modernize the experience while preserving the nostalgic charm.

Physical copies will be available in select North American and European stores. The collection includes widescreen support, enhanced pixel art, and high-definition cutscenes. The April 18th release date follows the initial announcement during a 2024 Sony State of Play, surprising and delighting fans of the original Sega CD and PlayStation titles. While the collection's commercial success remains to be seen, the previous success of the Grandia HD Collection, a collaboration between the same developers and publisher, suggests a positive outlook.
