As this is a previous-generation title, Nintendo is not offering a discount. You'll pay the full original price for the Switch game, plus an additional $10 for the Switch 2 enhancements, which may feel like a steep ask.
Upgrade Pack Is Also Available Separately
This package bundles the original Switch game with the Switch 2 Edition upgrade. If you already own the Switch version, you can buy the standalone upgrade pack for $10 to save on the total cost.
Upgrade Pack Is Free with Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack
Current owners of Breath of the Wild who are also Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members receive the upgrade at no extra cost—it's included with their subscription. This is a welcome benefit, given the additional expenses often associated with a new console launch.
What is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?
This edition contains the full original Switch game alongside the Switch 2 upgrade pack. The enhancements deliver improved performance, including higher frame rates, faster load times, and upgraded resolution and textures. Essentially, the game looks and runs significantly better on the Nintendo Switch 2 than it did on the original hardware.
From our original Breath of the Wild review: “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a masterclass in open-world design and a landmark title that redefines its 30-year-old series. It offers a captivating sandbox rich with mystery, constantly presenting countless enticing opportunities for exploration. Each adventure feels uniquely personal, with stories layered upon stories. Even after more than 50 hours traversing Hyrule, I continue to discover new secrets, and I can easily envision spending another 50 to 100 hours uncovering all its fascinating moments.”
