Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed that Patch 7 would be the last major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is on the horizon, slated for release in 2025. This update promises to enhance the game with features like crossplay support and a photo mode. Additionally, it will introduce 12 new subclasses, each bringing unique mechanics to enrich the gameplay experience. Details about four of these subclasses have been shared, and we're now delving into the remaining ones:

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing the welfare of society. This subclass harnesses the power of the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also restores their health, making it an invaluable asset in maintaining team resilience.

Arcane Archer

Blending martial prowess with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer uses enchanted arrows to devastating effect. These arrows can blind, weaken, or even temporarily exile enemies to the Feywild until the next turn. Moreover, if an arrow misses its intended target, the Arcane Archer can skillfully adjust its flight path to strike another enemy, ensuring their shots are never wasted.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk uniquely integrates alcohol into their combat techniques, turning intoxication into a strategic advantage. Their signature move not only intoxicates foes, leaving them disoriented, but also enhances the monk's own abilities. When using the Instant Sobriety technique on an intoxicated target, it inflicts both physical and mental damage, showcasing the monk's mastery over their state of inebriation.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

The Swarmkeeper Ranger taps into the power of nature by forming symbiotic relationships with swarms of creatures. These swarms offer protection from harm and facilitate teleportation, adding layers of strategic depth to the ranger's gameplay. In combat, they can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters that shock enemies, blinding moth clouds that obscure vision, and stinging bee legions capable of knocking back foes who fail a strength check by 4.5 meters, showcasing the versatility and tactical advantage of this subclass.
