by Owen May 14,2025

Let the demon hunting begin! Netflix is bringing the iconic Devil May Cry franchise to life with an anime adaptation, and fans are in for a treat with the newly released trailer. Even more thrilling is the news that the legendary late voice actor Kevin Conroy will be featured posthumously in this new game adaptation.

Kevin Conroy, widely revered for his iconic portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in numerous animated films and TV series, takes on the role of VP Baines, a newly introduced character whose voice can be heard at the start of the trailer.

PlayBack in July 2024, Conroy received acclaim for his posthumous performance in *Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part 3*. It's heartening for fans to have another opportunity to appreciate his talent following his passing in November 2022 at the age of 66. Joining Conroy in the cast are Scout Taylor-Compton as Mary, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Chris Coppola as Enzo, and Johnny Yong Bosch voicing the protagonist, Dante.

According to Netflix's official synopsis, “Sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.”

Adi Shankar, the showrunner for the series, is known for his work as the executive producer on films like the 2012 Dredd reboot, Killing Them Softly starring Brad Pitt from the same year, and the 2014 Ryan Reynolds film The Voices. Shankar is also set to executive produce an adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, though its release remains uncertain since its announcement in 2017.

Studio Mir, a renowned South Korean studio with credits including The Legend of Korra and X-Men ‘97, will handle the production of this new series. Devil May Cry is slated to premiere on Netflix on April 3, 2025.
