Palworld's Dark Fragments: A Guide to Acquisition and Use

Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open world and diverse Pals, introduced a wealth of new crafting materials with the Feybreak DLC. Among these is the elusive Dark Fragment, crucial for crafting high-level accessories. This guide details how to find and utilize this valuable resource.

How to Obtain Dark Fragments

Dark Fragments are exclusively found on Feybreak Island and are obtained by capturing or defeating Dark-elemental Pals. Unlike other regions, Pals on the outer beaches and gravel areas of Feybreak are primarily ground and water types. You'll need to venture inland to locate Dark-elemental Pals, noting that some, like Starryon, are primarily nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.

Each captured or defeated Dark-elemental Pal yields 1-3 Dark Fragments, though this isn't a guaranteed drop. Efficient hunting is key to accumulating a sufficient supply.

The following Dark-elemental Pals yield Dark Fragments:

Pal Name Drop Rate
Starryon 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Omascul 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Splatterina 2-3 x Dark Fragments
Dazzi Noct 1 x Dark Fragment
Kitsun Noct 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Starryon (Boss Variant) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Rampaging Starryon (Predator) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Omascul (Boss Variant) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Splatterina (Boss Variant) 2-3 x Dark Fragments
Dazzi Noct (Boss Variant) 1 x Dark Fragment
Kitsun Noct (Boss Variant) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Rampaging Omascul (Predator) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Rampaging Splatterina (Predator) 2-3 x Dark Fragments

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on the ground across Feybreak, rewarding thorough exploration.

Utilizing Dark Fragments

Dark Fragments, while valuable, aren't used in a vast array of recipes. They primarily serve in crafting specialized items, including saddles and accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for your character.

The following items require Dark Fragments: Remember to unlock the schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points, and ensure you possess the necessary machines and resources.

Crafted Item Unlock Method
Homing Module Level 57 in Technology Menu (5 Tech Points)
Triple Jump Boots Level 58 in Ancient Tech Menu (3 Ancient Tech Points; Requires defeating Feybreak Tower boss)
Double Air Dash Boots Level 54 in Ancient Tech Menu (3 Ancient Tech Points)
