The announcement of Neil Druckmann's latest game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has stirred a whirlwind of emotions among fans, and we've finally been given a glimpse into its intriguing setting. Neil Druckmann, the mastermind behind this project, unveiled these details during his appearance on the Creator to Creator show.

The game is set in an alternate future, branching off from our reality in the late 1980s. In this universe, a new religion emerges and rises to dominance within the Intergalactic world. Naughty Dog has dedicated several years to crafting the intricate lore of this religion, detailing its evolution from the emergence of its first prophet to its subsequent transformations and distortions.

This unique religion originates and spreads across a single planet, which over time becomes completely isolated from the rest of the galaxy. The story's protagonist experiences a dramatic crash-landing on this very planet, finding herself in a desolate environment where she is utterly alone. Survival becomes her primary challenge, emphasizing one of the core themes of the game. Druckmann highlighted that, unlike previous Naughty Dog titles which often included a companion for interaction, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet challenges players to navigate and solve the mysteries of the planet solo, should they wish to find a way to escape.

Despite being in development for four years, there is still no word on a potential release date. Fans will need to stay tuned for further announcements as the project progresses.
