Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlockable Breakers and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers diverse gameplay through its selection of characters, known as Breakers. This guide covers all currently available Breakers and how to unlock them in the early access version. Note that this information may be updated as more characters are added.

How to Unlock New Characters

To unlock new Breakers, you'll need Abyss Stones. These are dropped by Crowns (bosses). To access Crowns, you must first locate Prisms, represented by golden diamond icons on the map; these act as keys to boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost teleporter and select the Breaker you wish to unlock using your accumulated Abyss Stones. Currently, only two Breakers are unlockable via this method; the process for future characters may differ.

All Characters and Their SyComs

Each Breaker starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and primary perk, and thus influencing their playstyle.

Vermillion:

• Default SyCom: Gunslinger: Favors ranged combat; critical hits on Rail shots guarantee a subsequent crit.
• Unlockable SyCom: Tank: Rewards perfect parries with increased armor; boasts superior defensive and melee stats.

Lapis:

• Default SyCom: Lightweaver: Boosts Rail shot damage after collecting a Battery.
• Unlockable SyCom: Warrior: Increases core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro:

• Default SyCom: Astrologer: Accelerates Blade skill charge while firing.
• Unlockable SyCom: Sniper: Significantly increases critical hit rate, transforming him into a high-risk, high-reward ranged damage dealer.
