GOG Revives Dino Crisis 1 and 2 for PC
The beloved cult classics, *Dino Crisis* and *Dino Crisis 2*, have been resurrected and are now available on PC through GOG. These survival horror gems, originally released on the PlayStation, are now accessible DRM-free on the CD Projekt-owned platform, thanks to GOG's Preservation Program. This initiative ensures that the games retain their original content while being optimized for modern systems.
Capcom first introduced *Dino Crisis* to the world in 1999, followed by *Dino Crisis 2* in 2000. The series saw a third installment, *Dino Crisis 3*, which was exclusive to the original Xbox in 2003. Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting a new entry or a high-definition remake, but Capcom has shown little interest. The 2022 announcement of *Exoprimal*, a multiplayer action game featuring dinosaurs, was perceived by many as the final blow to hopes for a *Dino Crisis* revival. Furthermore, in August of the previous year, the series' creator, Shinji Mikami, suggested that the success of Capcom's *Monster Hunter* series leaves little room for a *Dino Crisis* reboot or remake.
Previously, the PC ports of the first two *Dino Crisis* games were hard to come by and challenging to run on contemporary hardware. GOG's efforts to bring these games back are thus highly appreciated. GOG stated, "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina’s iconic line, 'You’re extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today’s systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
