Freaky Friday Sequel Freakier Friday Gets Disney+ Streaming Release Date

The streaming landscape is about to get even weirder. Disney+ has officially confirmed that the sequel to Freaky Friday, titled Freakier Friday, will arrive on November 12.

Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan’s latest movie becomes available for home viewing on Disney+ starting Wednesday, November 12—a day choice that adds a touch of irony given the title. In this industry, you take what you can get.

The ensemble cast includes Curtis, Lohan, Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao. After its premiere in August, the film significantly outperformed expectations, earning over $94 million globally against a production budget of just $42 million.

Released in 2003 as the third adaptation of the 1972 novel, the original movie remains an iconic comedy from the early 2000s. Its enduring popularity clearly inspired the cast to reunite for this sequel. Curtis previously discussed how impactful the first film was on her career. “It was a surprise professionally,” she shared in bonus footage from Freakier Friday. “Then it became a turning point, largely because the movie achieved massive success around the world.”

Chad Michael Murray, who played Lohan’s love interest in the 2003 original, expressed nostalgia for the project and its lasting influence. “Twenty-two years ago,” he reflected in the clip, “I was new to Los Angeles when I got the chance to work with Jamie Lee and Lindsay on a film that resonated deeply with so many people.”

For Lohan, the experience was defined by camaraderie and enjoyment during production, further cementing her status as a leading star. “We were constantly having such a blast,” she recalled. “My memories of being on set are overwhelmingly happy ones.”

In Freakier Friday, Lohan’s character Anna finds herself body-swapping with her daughter once again. The film also introduces new faces to the franchise: Manny Jancinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Sophia Hammons, and Julia Butters.
