New First-Party PlayStation Game Will Reportedly Be Inspired by Smash Bros

A PlayStation studio, newly formed from former Bungie employees, is reportedly developing a MOBA titled "Gummy Bears." Initially conceived at Bungie, this project, codenamed "Gummy Bears," has undergone a developer shift and is now under the banner of a new Sony subsidiary.
This unique MOBA, rumored to be in development since at least 2022, differs significantly from Bungie's previous titles. Instead of traditional health bars, Gummy Bears employs a percentage-based damage system reminiscent of Super Smash Bros., where high damage results in characters being knocked off the map. The game will feature three character classes – Attack, Defense, and Support – alongside multiple game modes. Its visual style is described as cozy, vibrant, and "lo-fi," aiming to attract a younger audience than Bungie's typical player base.
The transition to the new PlayStation studio follows Bungie's 2023 layoffs and subsequent integration of employees into Sony Interactive Entertainment. The new studio, comprising approximately 40 individuals, is believed to be based in Los Angeles. While Gummy Bears' release date remains unconfirmed, its development suggests a potential future release several years from now.
