Exclusive: Doug Bowser on Nintendo's Future in San Francisco
Nintendo is set to excite fans with the opening of its new San Francisco store today, May 15, located at 331 Powell Street in the bustling Union Square. This marks the second official Nintendo store in the United States, following the success of the New York location. Originally known as the Nintendo World Store, the New York branch underwent renovations and a rebranding to become Nintendo NY before its grand reopening in 2016.
IGN had the opportunity to visit the new San Francisco store to explore what Nintendo has in store for its visitors. Additionally, we sat down with Nintendo of America's President, Doug Bowser, to discuss the strategic decision behind opening their first West Coast store at this time.
During our conversation, we couldn't help but delve into the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2, set to launch on June 5. We asked President Bowser about the availability of the Switch 2 in the U.S. at launch and beyond, the controversial Game-Key Cards, and other pertinent details surrounding this exciting new release.
