FromSoftware Addresses Server Issues in Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test

by Madison Sep 10,2025

The initial network test for Elden Ring Nightreign, currently underway, is facing significant server challenges, preventing many players from participating.

IGN staff with test access reported severe server issues, unable to log in during the first hour of the session.

The problems prompted FromSoftware to release a social media statement acknowledging matchmaking difficulties due to server overload. The studio apologized and urged players to retry matching after some time.

The issue is compounded by the limited schedule of the Elden Ring Nightreign network test, restricted to five three-hour windows on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S from February 14 to February 17. The schedule is as follows:

Elden Ring Nightreign network test schedule:

February 14: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ETFebruary 14: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ETFebruary 15: 11am-2pm PT / 2pm-5pm ETFebruary 16: 3am-6am PT / 6am-9am ETFebruary 16: 7pm-10pm PT / 10pm-1am ET

Bandai Namco described the network test as a “preliminary evaluation where selected players experience a segment of the game before its official release.”

“This extensive network stress test aims to assess the online system’s performance and functionality. We appreciate your support in enhancing Elden Ring Nightreign,” Bandai Namco stated.

While it’s preferable for server issues to occur during testing rather than at the May launch, players who scheduled time for the test have voiced frustration. Hopefully, future sessions will proceed more smoothly.

Elden Ring Nightreign is FromSoftware’s standalone co-op spin-off set in a world parallel to 2022’s Elden Ring. The test allows three players to team up, guiding their Nightfarers to confront new threats, navigate a dynamic map, and battle increasingly difficult bosses to ultimately face the Nightlord, according to Bandai Namco. The test includes a three day-and-night cycle that squads must endure.

Last year, IGN visited FromSoftware and tested an early version of Elden Ring Nightreign. We were impressed, noting that the game “transforms Elden Ring’s deliberate dungeon exploration into fast-paced, action-packed speedruns.”
