Denpa Men RPG Returns to Mobile

The quirky creature-collecting RPG, The New Denpa Men, is returning to mobile devices! Initially a 3DS favorite, then making the leap to the Nintendo Switch, this bizarre adventure is set for a mobile comeback on March 10th, launching on iOS and Android. Could this mark a global release?

Given Nintendo's recent mobile push, a Switch-to-smartphone transition for some titles seemed inevitable. However, The New Denpa Men wasn't exactly on anyone's prediction list! Gematsu reports the upcoming mobile release, which will reportedly retain the original's augmented reality features using the device's camera.

For those unfamiliar, The New Denpa Men is an AR-based RPG. Players collect the titular Denpa Men—creatures dwelling on radio waves—from the real world via AR, then battle them in dungeons.

While not a household name like Mario or Zelda, The Denpa Men franchise has appeared on various Nintendo platforms. This isn't Genius Sonority's first mobile foray either; they previously released The New Denpa Men on mobile before its Switch remaster. So, yes, we're potentially seeing a mobile rerelease of a Switch remaster of a mobile game—a bit meta, perhaps!

Interestingly, the original The New Denpa Men was Japan-exclusive. The Switch version enjoyed a global launch, suggesting this mobile rerelease might finally bring the game to a worldwide audience.
