Far Cry 4 Hits 60fps on PS5 with New Update

Eleven years after its initial release, Far Cry 4 now delivers a smooth 60 frames per second (fps) experience on PlayStation 5.

User gael_74 shared on the Far Cry 4 subreddit that the game’s Version 1.08 update added "support for 60 FPS on PS5 console."

With its memorable villain, Pagan Min, the game immerses you in a vibrant open-world set in the Himalayas, where the towering landscape serves as more than just scenery—it’s a dynamic playground for combat, hunting, and exploration.

Far Cry 4 joins other PS4-era Ubisoft titles like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate and Assassin’s Creed Origins in receiving performance upgrades in recent years. Fans on the subreddit are now eagerly calling for similar 60fps updates for beloved titles such as Far Cry Primal and Far Cry 3.

For some, the update arrived just too late: "You’ve got to be joking. I just earned the platinum trophy three days ago," lamented one disappointed player.

Last month, Ubisoft established a new subsidiary focused on its Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six franchises, backed by a €1.16 billion (approximately $1.25 billion) investment from Tencent.

This followed Ubisoft’s announcement that Assassin’s Creed Shadows surpassed 3 million players. After facing high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations leading up to Shadows’ launch, Ubisoft is under significant pressure to deliver, especially with its share price at a historic low.
