⚫︎ Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is emerging as a bold new chapter in the cherished Bloodstained series—recent interviews with producer Koji Igarashi (IGA) and creative director Shutaro Iida (SHUTARO) revealed the first in-depth look at its development and design vision.

In development since 2021, this prequel introduces a fresh era, new protagonists, and innovative gameplay mechanics. While honoring the gothic atmosphere and action-RPG roots fans love, Igarashi and Shutaro call it a “transformative return” to the IGAvania style, with fresh approaches to narrative and structure.

⚫︎ A new entry in the Bloodstained series, Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, was unveiled during the latest PlayStation State of Play and is set to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2026. The game is now available to wishlist.

Directed by Shutaro and produced by series creator Koji Igarashi, this 2.5D side-scrolling action RPG returns to the gothic world of Ritual of the Night. Set in the 16th century, it follows Leonard, a Black Wolves apprentice, and Alexander, the last knight of the White Stags, as they fight through the Ethereal Castle to confront Demon Lord Elias and his guardians, the Sanguinaries.
