Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion: Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is gearing up to bring the beloved Digimon franchise to mobile devices once again with their latest project, Digimon Alysion. This new game, a digital rendition of the popular Digimon Card Game, is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play title, although an exact release date remains undisclosed.

The official announcement came during Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th, where Bandai Namco shared exciting news alongside the reveal of Digimon Alysion. Fans were treated to updates on the ongoing Digimon Liberator series, which will embark on a new arc in April 2025. Additionally, the event featured a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime and introduced a new project titled Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Bandai Namco is also developing a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, for consoles and PC.

Digimon Alysion: Not Just a Card Game

Digimon Alysion isn't a direct translation of the physical Digimon Card Game. Instead, it introduces innovative 'DigiAly' cards, complementing the traditional cards designed specifically for this digital version. Bandai Namco is also incorporating new Digimon and characters into the mix, enhancing the game's appeal.

The character roster showcased on the official website features an all-female cast, which is a unique choice for a digital card game and has sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some are wary of these new elements, particularly those who were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This marks Bandai Namco's third attempt at a Digimon mobile game, following less successful previous efforts. While there's understandable skepticism about Digimon Alysion's prospects, anticipation remains high. A closed beta test is currently in the planning stages, though specific details are yet to be revealed. For the latest updates, keep an eye on the game's official website or follow their X account.
