Bandai Namco to Shut Down PAC-MAN Mobile Game

Bandai Namco has announced the unfortunate shutdown of PAC-MAN Mobile, coinciding ironically with the legendary icon's 45th anniversary celebration this year. Launched over a decade ago, this version of the game has been a staple for many fans of the classic arcade experience.

When Is the PAC-MAN Mobile Shutdown?

The official shutdown date for PAC-MAN Mobile is set for May 30th, 2025. In-app purchases were discontinued as of April 1st, 2025. If you're among the dedicated players still enjoying the game, you can continue playing until the final day on May 30th.

The decision to completely shut down the game rather than transition it to an offline version has sparked disappointment among the player base. Many fans have expressed a willingness to continue playing an offline version, which could have potentially generated ongoing revenue for Bandai Namco.

This iteration of PAC-MAN, formerly known as PAC-MAN + Tournaments, offered more than just the classic arcade experience. In addition to the iconic 8-bit arcade mode, it featured a Story Mode with numerous original mazes to navigate. The Adventure Mode introduced limited-time themed events, providing opportunities to unlock exclusive skins. Furthermore, the Tournament Mode included weekly maze challenges with three difficulty levels, and the game offered a variety of skins for PAC-MAN, the ghosts, the joystick, and more.

Over the past few years, the game has faced increasing challenges, with bugs and issues accumulating. These ongoing problems likely contributed significantly to the decision to shut down the game.
